The goal of this table is to act as a living journal of your learning process, and to help you identify potential obstacles early in the process.
# Add Goals to the Table
For each topic or behavior you want, create a row in the table, answering each of the prompts. The prompts are designed to link the goal with a concrete change, and to identify potential issues.
# Set Next Steps Once the goal is agreed, define next steps. Focus on what will happen in the short term, don't go too far.
# Reflect Regularly
* How has your perspective changed as you start learning? * Do you consider the examples differently? * Is there anything else that you think would have a bigger impact? * Given your current circumstances, is this still as important?
# The Table
| What do I want to learn or change? | What is a recent example where having learnt this or changed this behavior would have led to different results? | What is preventing me from doing this? | What are my next actionable steps? | How will I know I achieved this? | What will improve for myself and others if I do this? | What is the cost for myself and others if I don't? | |------------------------------------|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|----------------------------------------|-------------------------------------|---------------------------------|-------------------------------------------------------|----------------------------------------------------| | One Topic Per Row | Use a real-life example. | Any obstacles (eg. time, interest, etc.) | Keep it simple, for example: what will happen between now and the next time you have a coaching session. | What will change? | Include as much as you can | Not doing something is not neutral, it will also have effects.
