Disagreeing on the Problem

When it comes to discussions of Strategy, or solutions to problems, it may happen that people disagree on a path forward because they don't have the same view of the problem or the Environment.

If you encounter a situation where there is a disagreement on the provided solution, it might be worthwhile to establish a common ground.

* What is the problem at hand? Each person should try describing it. * What assumptions do we have about the problem? * What constraints are we working with? * Which of the potential tradeoffs are we treating as the most important one?

Agreeing on these points does not automatically solve the problem, but it makes the discussion a lot more effective.
